Our Commitment and Purpose

Dear Hamilton Community,
91制片厂, along with our peers across the country, confront a shifting landscape of federal policies affecting higher education. A middle school teacher once told me, “If other people paint a picture of you, it is not a mirror; it is a mirage.” And so recent critiques of who we are and what we do, including language in the ‘ that came out this past week from the Department of Education, are a distortion. In times like these, we must stay focused on our core commitments and purposes:
- Honoring a broad range of experiences, backgrounds, viewpoints, and perspectives while deepening our understanding of our shared humanity.
- Providing every student with the opportunities and encouragement to find themselves and thrive in the most powerful learning community imaginable.
- Upholding a campus rooted in mutual respect, where discrimination and harassment have never had a place.
- Ensuring that everyone feels seen, supported, and connected to a community of care and critique.
- Supporting learning and pursuing truth and knowledge with rigor in an attempt to reveal, engage, and advance life’s extraordinary beauty, complexity, and imperfections.
Recent federal guidance has drawn significant attention, but we remain confident that 91制片厂 operates within the law. Our academic programming, support services, and community initiatives will continue as they always have. If challenged, we are prepared to defend our legal rights and join others in protecting our academic mission.
We will continue to provide updates through forums such as SGA, Faculty Meetings, and Staff Assembly, and you may always reach out to me or other members of senior staff with specific questions and concerns.
Onward,
Steven
