Meet Our Staff
Aaron Ray
Director
Aaron Ray is the Director of Opportunity Programs at 91制片厂, where he leads efforts to support students in reaching their academic and personal goals. Through programs like ALEX (Advise, Learn, Experience), he ensures students have access to innovative resources for academic success, career preparation, and personal growth. Before joining Hamilton, Aaron served as the Assistant Director of Skidmore College鈥檚 Opportunity Program and worked in admissions at Union College, focusing on recruiting students from underrepresented backgrounds. He earned his bachelor鈥檚 degree in American Studies from Union College and a master鈥檚 in Organizational Leadership from Quinnipiac University. His leadership is inspired by the late John Lewis and his grandmother, Vena Ray, whose stories fuels his passion for empowering students to pursue their dreams. Outside of work, Aaron is all about community, family, and basketball. Whether collaborating with Hamilton鈥檚 student-focused initiatives or spending time with his wife, two daughters, and their five pets. In his spare time, you鈥檒l find him no a basketball court getting a run in., Aaron鈥檚 energy is dedicated to building meaningful connections. He鈥檚 excited to meet new students, learn their stories, and help them succeed at Hamilton and beyond.
Brenda C. Davis
Associate Director
Brenda works to support students on every level. She maintains an open-door policy and is available to help students meet their personal, academic and social needs. The staff team policy is to "never ask for anything that we won't help you with."
Bette Ecklund
Educational and Supportive Services Counselor
Bette works closely with students, focusing on academic and personal success at Hamilton. She guides students in building their resume, brainstorming summer internships, exploring study abroad opportunities as well as time management and academic and personal needs.
Kate Mullen
Counselor For Academic Belonging
Kate joined the OP staff in October of 2023 and quickly made an impact. In her role as the Counselor for Academic Belonging, she works closely with our Fellow for Academic Belonging to ensure that all students in the Opportunity Programs have access to the support they need in order to thrive in their Hamilton classes. Kate is available by Zoom on Mondays and can be found in the OP Office Tuesday-Thursday.
Kelly McCarthy
Office Assistant
Kelly joined Opportunity Programs on July 1, 2025. She is excited to help answer student questions and get to know the OP students as they arrive for the summer program and throughout the academic year. She oversees the student interns, and makes sure the office runs smoothly.
Gaizka Borrondo Cherigny
Fellow for Academic Belonging
Gaizka serves as the Fellow for Academic Belonging where he works closely with the Writing Center and the Quantitative & Symbolic Reasoning Center (QSR) to coordinate academic support for students in Opportunity Programs. A graduate of Hamilton, Gaizka is passionate about helping students to navigate their academics and champion their successes. As someone who spent most of college tutoring at the QSR, he understands how helpful those spaces can be, and how easy it is to feel lost or overwhelmed. He鈥檚 available to help with anything students need, from finding the right kind of support, to managing workloads, or just having someone to talk to.
