Some of the lesson plans developed by the Hamilton students have been selected and published by (Philosophy Learning and Teaching Organization), an organization that is part of a global UNESCO network that encourages children to participate in philosophical inquiry. The lessons are available on the PLATO website so that others may use them in their programs.Last year Riley Nichols ’21 developed a program titled “Philosophy with Children” with 12 other students under the direction of John Stewart Kennedy Chair of Philosophy Marianne Janack. The group developed and delivered virtual weekly lessons exploring age-appropriate topics in philosophy with groups of Clinton elementary and middle school students. Although many other professionals have developed K-12 philosophy programs in the past, none were delivered virtually and created entirely by students.
