From environmental justice in Flint, Mich., to hospitality in Thailand, Hamilton students made the most of their summer breaks by tackling internships in a breadth of fields and locales. Here are a selection of those learning experiences.

National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. September鈥檚 news topics included varied subjects from President Steven Tepper鈥檚 inauguration to politics.

Fallcoming and Inauguration Weekend was a vibrant celebration of community, creativity, and tradition, as students, faculty, alumni, and guests gathered to welcome Steven Tepper as Hamilton's 21st president.

Steven Tepper was inaugurated as Hamilton鈥檚 21st president on Sept. 28, acknowledging in his remarks the College as a creative campus for more than two centuries and challenging the Hamilton community 鈥渢o design a future for the campus that allows us to leverage this history, to expand opportunities, to create national differentiation, and to lead.鈥�

In its first meeting of the 2024-25 academic year, the Hamilton Chapter of Phi Beta Kappa elected 10 members of the Class of 2025.

Alex Kim 鈥�25, a music and math double-major, spent his summer exploring machine learning and music through the help of an Emerson grant. With the guidance of Assistant Professor of Music Charlotte Botha, Kim developed a vocal register classification tool through machine learning models.

Members of the Hamilton community and guests will come together on Saturday, Sept. 28, to inaugurate President Steven Tepper as the 21st president of the College.

Forty-five new faculty members have entered Hamilton鈥檚 ranks, including nine tenure-track professors in anthropology, art, computer science, dance and movement studies, economics, government, mathematics and statistics, music, and Russian. They join 31 visiting professors and lecturers, and four teaching fellows for the 2024-25 academic year.

Following a national search, Vice President for Enrollment Management John McLaughlin has announced that Jacob Browne has been named executive director of admission. Browne will join Hamilton on Oct. 1 from Eckerd College, where he serves as dean of admission.
