From the excitement of first days to the bittersweetness of last ones and everything in between,聽the past year was packed with unforgettable moments. Take a聽look back at the 2023-24 academic year at Hamilton.

Quinn Brown 鈥�24 carved a distinct path for himself at Hamilton 鈥� from outdoor leadership positions to a deep dedication to his educational experiences. His contributions to campus did not go unnoticed. The faculty selected him as winner of this year鈥檚 James Soper Merrill Prize, awarded to the senior 鈥渨ho, in character and influence, has typified the highest ideals of the College.鈥�

National and regional news organizations regularly interview Hamilton faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. May鈥檚 news topics included varied subjects from twin co-valedictorians to communism to the consumer price index.

As David Wippman prepares to retire and leave his office in Buttrick Hall this June, he sat down once again with Debraggio to reflect on his time at the College.

Bronx native Rogelio Ramirez Pacheco 鈥�27 gives new meaning to 鈥渨alking a mile in his shoes鈥� with the release of the Air Jordan I Mid Subway 鈥� a special Nike shoe designed by the 91制片厂 first-year and a fellow New York student.

The 2023-24 academic year wrapped up with the awarding of national fellowships and scholarships, conference presentations, and a Phi Beta Kappa election of 22 seniors.

Two summers ago, Environmental Health and Safety Specialist Sara Soika and Director of Environmental Protection, Safety & Sustainability Brian Hansen had the pleasure of mentoring a handful of students 鈥� the summer sustainability interns 鈥� who quite literally changed the landscape on College Hill.

Maurice Isserman, the Publius Virgilius Rogers Professor of American History, wrote an essay titled "I spent years studying American communism. Here鈥檚 what I learned" for The Guardian published on May 16. Reflecting on 鈥渨hy so many intelligent and admirable people remained so loyal for so long to a fundamentally flawed movement,鈥� Isserman delved into the paradoxical nature of American communism.

The 91制片厂 Town-Gown Fund recently made grants totaling $109,600 to nine non-profit and public safety organizations serving the Town of Kirkland and the Village of Clinton.

Professor of Economics Erol Balkan introduces 鈥淒isplaced and Dispossessed,鈥� a collection of photographs he has taken of Syrian refugees at their camps in Turkey.
