Even if the laboratories are closed, the (online) libraries are open, and COVID-19 isn鈥檛 stopping Associate Professor of Chemistry and Chair of Biochemistry/Molecular Biology Max Majireck, Amy Glanzer 鈥�21, and Holly Hutchinson 鈥�21 from conducting chemistry research this summer.

This summer, anthropology and religious studies major Kyle Clark 鈥�22 is pitching stories and gathering information in his job with CNBC鈥檚 Breaking News desk and its Specials Unit.

WHCL is Hamilton鈥檚 student-run radio station. Established in 1941, 88.7 on your FM radio dial provides the community with the opportunity to get their voices, and their music, heard. This summer, student DJs are broadcasting remotely, joined by alumni. Some of these DJs include Dave Bolger 鈥�99, Zachary Franciose 鈥�14, Kaye Kagaoan 鈥�15, Austin Ford 鈥�19, and, all co-hosting together, Tori Fukumitsu 鈥�15, Caroline Grunewald 鈥�15, Eliza Kenney 鈥�15, and George Taliaferro 鈥�15.

After her summer neurology research was canceled due to COVID-19, Krithika Ravishankar 鈥�22 decided to broaden her search for internships. This ultimately led to a conversation with Josh Rothstein 鈥�19, founder of Up All Night Music Group, a concert promoting organization.

Student summer research is underway, with students and faculty collaborating on projects remotely via Zoom. Here, Gus Huiskamp 鈥�21, describes his Emerson Foundation research project about the philosophical and literary movement, Negritude.

When Emily Cutajar 鈥�21 learned that the job she had planned for the summer was canceled due to COVID-19, she rushed to find another internship. Reaching out to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, she found a new opportunity.

Juasline Plasencia 鈥�23 is using a summer research grant from the College to teach art online to students at Miami Southridge High School 鈥� and provide them with art supplies. She plans to share the students鈥� artwork on social media.

Rob Berk 鈥�20 didn鈥檛 celebrate his graduation from Hamilton like most other students, though that might not come as a surprise.

As a high school senior, Nick Walters 鈥�20 discovered his interest in choral music. At Hamilton, he focused that interest. His next step is a master鈥檚 degree in musicology at the University of Cambridge.
