Course Description:

This course introduces students to environmental racism, systemic practices and policies that differentially affect or disadvantage communities of color. Students will explore the relationship between structures and institutions in the United States and the communities affected by them, the mechanisms maintaining racial inequality, and the resulting harmful effects. Using an intersectional approach, students will examine and understand well-known and lesser-known examples of environmental racism.
