Course Description:

Hydrogeology is the study of surface water and groundwater, with a focus on groundwater. The course covers how water enters the subsurface, how groundwater interacts with surface water and flows in the subsurface through aquifers, and how it interacts with the surrounding soil and rock, affecting water chemistry. The course prepares students to address many environmental challenges that hydrogeologists study, including sustainable water supply, food and energy production, environmental protection and conservation, groundwater contamination, and climate change. The course prepares students to address such challenges by developing their ability to investigate groundwater systems, perform common laboratory and field methods, and solve complex problems in hydrogeology.
