Course Description:

An interdisciplinary study of how natural hazards impact our society. We will explore the nature of various natural hazards including earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, landslides, flooding, severe weather, and climate change, and the risk they pose to society. Emphasis on understanding current hazard monitoring and prediction strategies, data and science-based risk assessment, and associated uncertainty. Case studies of various mitigation practices will also be discussed.
