| Course Description: | Compared to action or fantastic cinema, contemporary French cinema privileges understatement and slow depictions of complicated and traumatic 鈥渞eal life鈥� events. The course examines the complex transformation into images of identifiable life situations. Includes the basics of French cinema history, terminology of common cinematographic techniques, and the analysis of a variety of feature films and documentary by filmmakers such as Jacques Audiard, Agn猫s Jaoui, Abdekadif Kechiche, Gilles Lellouche, and Agn猫s Varda. |
