Course Description:

This course will explore the systems of ranking, reputation and distinction that impact the field of higher education. From a sociological and communications perspective, we will investigate how colleges seek to drive success and differentiation through marketing, social media, visual imagery, historical narratives, admissions materials, tours, campaigns, nostalgia and more. Students will do original research to compare Hamilton with other peer colleges and they will produce findings and recommendations for evolving Hamilton's unique story and identity.
