Everyone has their own unique care needs when they visit a medical office, and these needs can be influenced by a number of key factors, including your age. At 91制片厂 (ACPNY), we understand that an adolescent patient shouldn’t be treated in the same way as an elderly patient. So whether you’re a teen going through puberty or an older patient struggling with joint pain, the providers at ACPNY are equipped to deliver the right kind of care at any stage of your life.

No matter how young or old you are, it’s always a good idea to visit your provider on a regular basis and keep a close eye on your health.

Regular Care Is Important, Even if You’re Young and Healthy

How ACPNY Meets Your Care Needs at Any Age

No matter how young or old you are, it’s always a good idea to visit your provider on a regular basis and keep a close eye on your health. But if you’re a teenager, maybe you feel completely healthy and don’t see the point in making regular visits. Or, maybe you don’t visit your provider because you’re hesistant to discuss certain topics that might come up, such as sexual or mental health issues. However you may be feeling, you should still make regular visits to your provider to maintain your good health and give yourself a better understanding of key issues that you and other teens might be facing, including:

  • Safe sex, birth control, and STI prevention
  • The impact of alcohol, drugs, smoking, and vaping on your physical and mental health
  • Anxiety, depression, or other behavioral health issues
  • How puberty affects your body and your mood

If you’re a parent of a teenager, it’s not uncommon to feel uncomfortable with some of these topics, or think they’re not relevant to your child. But it’s important to realize that your teenager isn’t likely to tell you everything they’re dealing with. And even if they’re not facing these issues personally, there’s still tremendous value in scheduling routine appointments with a provider and having your child discuss these topics with a knowledgeable health care professional.

For Senior Patients, Routine Care Is Essential

Although patients of all ages should visit their providers regularly, routine care becomes even more essential as you get older, as senior citizens are more likely to develop serious health conditions like:

  • Cancer
  • Heart disease
  • Dementia
  • Incontinence
  • Reduced hearing, vision, or mobility

As a patient at ACPNY, your Primary Care Provider (PCP) will lead a Care Team of physicians, specialists, registered nurses, and others who will work together to address your specific care needs. By keeping up with your routine care and regular screenings, your Care Team is much more likely to identify potential health issues early on, which gives them a better chance to successfully treat or manage your condition.

In addition to the conditions listed above, your Care Team can also address more sensitive or unexpected issues that are likely to come up as you get older, such as:

  • Sexual concerns around libido, erectile dysfunction, and vaginal atrophy
  • Behavioral health concerns, including depression and anxiety
  • End of life planning

Although these topics can be difficult to talk about, you can count on your Care Team to discuss these issues respectfully and without judgement. When you schedule an appointment with your PCP, you’re taking a crucial step toward managing your health and staying up to date on your care.
