Your Care Team
Primary Care Provider (PCP)
Your PCP leads your Care Team and sees you on a regular basis, getting to know your entire medical history and making informed choices about caring for the “whole you.” Your PCP could be a Physician, Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner, or other qualified provider.
Physicians
Physicians provide a full range of medical services, such as examinations, diagnoses, and treatments. Your PCP and specialty providers may be physicians, or they may be other types of licensed providers qualified to deliver the care you need.
Specialists
These experts focus on a specific field of medicine–anything from diabetes to heart disease to eye care and much more. Your Care Team includes Specialists when your particular health needs require their unique expertise.
Nurse Practitioners (NP)
Nurse Practitioners provide many of the same types of care delivered by physicians. In fact, your PCP may be an NP, also licensed to diagnose, treat, prescribe medication, and order and interpret test results.
Physician Assistants (PA)
Physician Assistants are licensed to diagnose and treat, as well as prescribe medication. Their skills and experience broaden patient access to care.
Registered Nurses (RN)
As part of your Care Team, RNs will assist with care services such as injections, screenings, and patient education. RNs also help coordinate your care experience by scheduling follow-up visits, and more.
Care Team Associates (CTA)
CTAs will guide you through routine aspects of your visit, such as collecting insurance info and copayments, scheduling appointments, and more. They’ll also take your vitals and make sure your patient data and information are up to date before you see your PCP.
